Program Benefits

  • Connecting Apprenticeships to the Young People Who Need Them: Apprenticeship is a system of training a new generation and a skill on which to build a career. Young adults who are not in school and who do not have a college degree face significant hurdles to sustainable employment. Also, those who have a college degree and are not employed will be afforded a second career opportunity. HCDC can use their expertise to connect these individuals to apprenticeship programs, leading to improved career opportunities such as Artisans.
  • Industry Partnership: HCDC will seek collaborative efforts from local industrial entities through linkages with disconnected 18 to 30-year-olds by providing funding, skill work, general support and employment opportunities.
  • Community Partners: HCDC will work with community organizations to recruit, prepare and support young adults so they can enter and succeed in career training opportunities. It will also create an avenue to share information through conferences, webinars, workshops, dissemination of research summaries and other proven effective practices.
  • Employers: They will provide information on key skills required to enter and advance in their sector and advising on programs/curriculum design. An employer supported by the HCDC must be directly involved in employing the apprentice and providing on-the-job training.
  • Foundations: HCDC will develop proposals and seek funding from national and international organizations, providing funds to identify effective ways to help young people from low-income families to acquire and keep well-paying jobs or become an entrepreneur.
  • Government Partnership: The organization will target contractual funding from federal, state and local governments for program development. This collaboration is crucial to the development of HCDC program. Trainees can be identified and recruited for participation in HCDC program at all intergovernmental level. Government resources are used in the areas of training and attract employers through the community.
  • Counseling Partners: HCDC is aware that an initial counseling screening and on—going counseling are important for trainees’ success in their areas of chosen profession. Therefore, we partner with high quality youth-serving community organization to keep young trainees on track.
  • Resource Agencies: HCDC will spearhead a project that can be used to collect regional economic data that will aid to understand the current demands of employers in other to identify occupations in high demands, so that these areas can be prioritized among others needing attention. This information can help to identify young people in need of assistance according to various variable pertaining to education and employment status.
